Anonymous: I'm twenty years old and from Wisconsin. However, I've been thinking about taking a risk and moving somewhere new. I'm making this move alone. And one of the places I'm considering is Anchorage. What can you tell me about your town? :) I'm studying photojournalism and Iaw and I'm really looking for a place that I can grow as a person and in my professions. And I really need a place to start fresh with no one I know there already.

Anchorage is a really cool place to live. The people here are wonderful if you know the right ones, and everything is perfect in the summers. The winters, for me at least, are really difficult. Less opportunities to explore because snow/ice makes things very dangerous. Also in the lower 48 there are a lot more opportunities for things like photojournalism and law. Less competition probably, but also less opportunities here. I think it would be a really great place to start out, make connections and learn because it’s less stressful and not as fast paced as other cities, but not a good place to settle down in. I know I’ll be leaving eventually. If you do decide to live here though, contact me off anon and I can tell you a bit more about it!
